This column will be passed on to every boomer I know. I agree that it is time for all of us to look for the exit ramp. We have done good things over the years, but we have also managed to leave a huge mess for our children and grandchildren to clean up. I believe it is time for us to sit down and be quiet.
Great column, and what a fun surprise at the finish! Reminds me of about 20 years ago when a seemingly rising star in the Iowa Republican Party, Matt Whitaker, a then-popular former Iowa Hawkeye football player, had moved back to the state. He was considering running for office, maybe state treasurer. Why that, I asked him. Why not Governor? “Because you Baby Boomers won’t leave the stage!” He said.
