What a cool 1960s educational film reel! I love this engaging, informative piece. In the 1990s, I lived in Beaver, IA, and worked on my PhD at ISU. Highway 30 was my road into Ames and home every night. Great news on the completion of these improvements!

I made a quick Thanksgiving trip "home" to Iowa from Alaska, where I now live. I didn't have the time to drive Highway 30 during my week in Iowa. On the flight back to Alaska, I listened to the novel The Lincoln Highway, by Amor Towles. Here is the link to the author's page, which also has a great talk about the book and the history of the Lincoln Highway. https://www.amortowles.com/the-lincoln-highway-about-the-book

Might be a great read/listen for anyone who hasn't yet read the book. Seems to fit so well with Between Two Rivers and the historical, transportation, and transformational themes you explore.

I'm originally from Benton County and am SO excited to hear this news! When we visit this Christmas, we'll be able to cut off 80 near Altoona and take 30 the rest of the way. Hallelujah!
