Thanks for an incredible amount of research and work on this project, but damn! For those of us who were raised on these newspapers, and had good careers with them, this is confirmation of the heartbreak we've been living -- our industry is pretty well caput. Fortunately, there's more journalism than ever before, but it's in a very different form. I'm glad to still be a small part of it.

2022: The Leader, covering two of Iowa’s fastest growing communities — North Liberty and Tiffin — shut down. Hard to believe with such an exhaustive list that you missed one.

Buy a subscription! Pay for an ad! Do SOMETHING besides use up space on the letters page to support your local papers. Once they're gone, they ain't coming back.

Thank you Jeff for your research and writing. I read a report by Northwestern's School of Journalism that found as community news sources dwindle the community grows more unsular and conservative. Soooo supporting community newspapers is a necessity not a luxury.

Losing our newspapers is a devastating blow to democracy. I wish more people would understand that...

I don't remember where I saw it but now the newsprint paper, mainly a Canadian product, prices will be rising sharply with the tariffs. More pressure on the publishers, doesn't look good for the business!
