This Friday, instead of watching Nebraska attempt to become bowl eligible against Iowa, how about joining the Collaborative’s monthly Zoom call? The call is one of the benefits of being a paid subscriber. More information is below.
The Collaborative has added some new writers recently. They include Ray Young Bear, who lives on the Meskwaki settlement in Tama County; Nicole Baart and Kali White VanBaale, who led sessions at the Okoboji Writers’ Retreat; Arnold Garson; and Chris Jones.
Baart just wrote about something near and dear to my heart, “On Being Known” in a small town.
All paid subscribers to one or more Iowa Writers Collaborative blogs are welcome to join us on December 7th for a gathering in Des Moines. So please consider becoming a paid subscriber! Then RSVP for our holiday event. Hope to see you all there!
From Sunday’s roundup newsletter:
Kyle Munson gives background about the location where the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative will be holding a holiday party on December 7, 5-6:30 p.m. for our paid subscribers. Many of our members will be on hand, including those who have fond memories of the house when Governor Harold Hughes and Bob Ray occupied it, then the Iowa High School Girls Athletic Association.
Save the date! On Friday at noon, paid subscribers to any member of the Iowa Writers’ Collaborative are welcome to join a Zoom call with Ellen Won Steil, author of her debut suspense novel “Fortune,” published by the Amazon imprint Lake Union Publishing.
“In this explosive novel about a decades old mystery, shocking revelations of the past and the secrets of three women will be spilled when a small Midwest town announces a DNA Lottery.”
